I want to echo Laurel's tip. The #1 problem people have is takingu the first step. For writers, that means sitting down and actually writing...every day. Don't follow this advice enough myself but it is so true. Writer's WRITE!

The Telegraph is one of UK's leading papers, and it runs an Expat site which ran a funny little competition a few weeks ago which I entered. For my efforts, I have won a bottle of scent of dubious contents and the posting of my entry. Forgive the editor's botches (goon on pilgrimage is not a typo: but it should have remained italicized to reflect I'd lifted it from The Canterbury Tales. Etc.).
